FAQ
  • Do people and dogs make up a pack?
The answer is NO! In the wild, what makes a pack in simple terms, is a dozen or so group of wild animals that live and travel together for survival. In a true pack, there is one dog that will be Alpha. My use of the term pack here is just a loving term for a family! Similar to when the kids were young, and I would refer to them as a "troop." While Brian and I maintain control over our household, we don't consider ourselves the Alpha members of a dog pack. Our dogs are our fur babies, our fur family members. The true family unit consists of parents and kids and we welcome our fur members into our family.
  • How do you train dogs, and is it effective?
At Beachy Dogs, we train using positive reinforcement and consistency to improve the canine-human relationship and build good behaviors in dogs. Using the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA)Approach, we will NEVER use devices like pinch or shock collars for training. By using positive reinforcement, consistency, and ensuring your dog's needs are met, more favorable behaviors will be developed with your dog.
